Online chat opens up

With over 7,500 community pharmacies, more than 1,600 of which are open 24/7, our pharmacists are some of the most accessible healthcare professionals in a patient’s life. And now there’s a new way to connect with these experts – through the chat feature on Walgreens.com, which is also available 24/7. Since it launched in August, thousands of patients have asked questions and received answers in real time about topics ranging from OTC suggestions to prescription medication side effects.
Most of the pharmacists who provide information and counseling via the online chat feature work from our Pharmacy Care Center in Orlando, FL, and while this service is not intended to replace local pharmacists, one team member there says that being able to ask questions privately can benefit patient-pharmacist communication. "The questions mirror the types I already receive through the call center," says Scott Krzeczowski, pharmacist, "but people seem even more comfortable asking personal questions via chat then they do on the phone."
